WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The Benefits Specialist is responsible for supporting the Benefits Team and managing the administrative aspects of the employee benefits programs.  The Benefits Specialist serves as the face of the Benefits Team and as the primary contact to address day-to-day employee questions regarding the Company’s Health and Welfare and Retirement programs. This position will administer leave of absences, compile requested benefit reports, as well as work directly with our benefit vendors. 


A GLIMPSE INTO YOUR DAY

  • Resolves employee issues with carriers and escalates complex issues as appropriate.
  • Processes all new hire enrollments and qualifying life events and ensures compliance with the Company’s plans. 
  • Supports the Benefits Manager during the planning and execution of the Company’s annual open enrollment.
  • Contacts employees to follow up on missing benefits enrollments and missing 401(k) beneficiaries.
  • Maintains and leads the benefit orientation program for new hires, newly eligible employees and rehires.
  • Supports the Benefits Manager in employee communication and education initiatives.
  • Partners with the recruiting team to provide a comprehensive benefit overview to prospective candidates as requested.
  • Supports all benefits related implementations.
  • Proactively audits enrollment data from the company’s HRIS and other related systems to ensure that administration of programs is accurate.
  • Maintains and ensures accuracy of all vendor integrations.
  • Creates and analyzes required benefit reports on a regular basis, as well as ad-hoc reports as requested. 
  • Manages the monthly benefit invoices reconciliation process.
  • Assists with the administration and processing of the Company’s leave of absence programs which includes FMLA, personal leaves, military leave and other state leave programs.
  • Partners with the Human Resources team including Payroll and HR Business Partners on benefit related matters.
  • Stays up to date and ensures compliance with relevant laws and regulations in benefits administration.
  • Cross trains and acts as back-up for other Human Resources Specialists in their absence. 
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned. 

Requirements

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN THIS ROLE

  • Minimum of 3 years of benefits administration experience.
  • Prior experience supporting company leave of absence programs.
  • In-depth knowledge of employee benefits programs, regulations and compliance.
  • Prior experience with HRIS systems; experience with Workday highly preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field preferred. 
  • Experience with self-funded health insurance plans.
  • aPHR or SHRM-CP certification or equivalent.
